Soleil Surette is currently a strategic planner at the Edmonton Public School Board, where she analyzes lots of student data and reports on strategic plan goals. Prior to this she spent seven years as the Manager of Planning, Assessment & Research at the Edmonton Public Library. In this role she was responsible for data collection, statistical reporting and evidence-based practice implementation. Before that she was the Research Librarian at the CARE Program for Integrative Health & Healing in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta, where she was immersed in evidence-based practice and research in the field of complementary and alternative medicine. Her background also includes work in curriculum review and qualitative research ethics. Even though she no longer works in libraries, Soleil remains passionate about library assessment and evaluation. She completed her MLIS at the University of Alberta and obtained a B.A. from McGill University in Political Science, with a minor in Women’s Studies. Soleil has two children and a spouse, and in her spare time likes to read (surprise!), bake, embroider (so should probably be living in a Jane Austen novel), and serves on two community boards.
