Code of Conduct

The Spark Ideas, Ignite Passion Virtual Conference is committed to creating and supporting a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and harassment-free conference experience for our community. The Northern Lights Library System and our member libraries embrace the full spectrum of human and social identities, including but not limited to: race, ethnicity, national origin, gender and gender identity and expression, sexuality, ability, class, and religion. We expect conference participants to help create thoughtful and respectful environments during our virtual conference, on related social media platforms, and in any online communications associated with our event. We expect you not to assume the pronouns of participants and to respect the pronouns indicated.

We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form. Harassment can include unwelcome or offensive verbal comments or nonverbal expressions related to age; appearance or body size; employment or military status; ethnicity; gender identity or expression; individual lifestyles; marital status; national origin; physical or cognitive ability; political affiliation; sexual orientation; race; or religion. Harassment (including online) can also include the use of sexual and/or discriminatory images in public spaces; deliberate intimidation; stalking; following; harassing photography or recording; sustained disruption of talks or other events; bullying behaviour; inappropriate physical contact; unwelcome sexual attention; and personal attacks. Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately. Conference participants violating these rules will be warned, then removed from the session at the conference organizers’ discretion. We value your presence and constructive participation in our community, and thank you for your attention to the comfort and safety of fellow collaborators and attendees.

The Spark Ideas, Ignite Passion Virtual Conference planning team gratefully acknowledges the Library Assessment Conference for sharing their codes of conduct with us.
